WORKSHOP AT FALSE CREEK COMMUNITY CENTRE

1318 Cartwright Street in Vancouver on Granville Island

The Expressive Body - Healing with Movement

Saturday, February 8th, 2020 - 10:00am-1:00pm

by John F. Weiss, Certified Tamalpa Life/Art Practitioner

Living in each one of us is a story, a colourful palette of images and experiences located in our muscles and bones, organs and body parts.

It is these experiences, which define and guide us.  Are we aware of their power?  Together, we will utilize these “stories” as a resource for exploration into our individual mythology.

In this introductory workshop, we will use many movement practices from Qigong to our own unique, self-driven movements to enter into a dialogue with our bodies, the keeper of the stories.  This will be joined by opportunities to use creative writing, visual arts and dialogue in a completely experiential exploration of what our bodies are saying to us.

No previous experience in movement or art is needed. Please bring a journal if you have one.

What you can expect during this workshop:

  • Increase your internal awareness through play, creativity and introspection.

  • Find out how movement can help promote and increase your physical, mental and emotional well-being.

  • Get resources to lower stress level and increase energy flow
