Respect Starts with the Self
During February, our honorary month of love, is a great time to take stock in yourself. Now that we have completed one month of 2015, how are you treating yourself? Have the new year's ideas/intentions left your memory completely or are the going strong?
As a way to set precedence for rest of 2015, I would like to challenge you to create a list of self love and respect. Take a few moments (or as long as you need) to sit silently, take a few deep breaths and reflect on your strengths and things you love/respect about yourself. When you feel ready, start making a list. Try not to think of this as a foolish effort or time wasted. Instead, think of it as balancing out the scales of your energy...the yin and yang of your life. Also, consider how often you have belittled, judged and maybe even hated yourself. It is now time for the other side to have its moment in the sun!
As a way of getting started, consider EVERYTHING, nothing is too small. Allow yourself to dream a bit on where you would like to go as well, but aren't 100% there yet. Send the love and respect onto the page. Continue until you can think of 50 things. I know, this can be difficult, but if I said make a list of 50 flaws you would like to correct or find annoying about yourself, you might complete that fairly quickly. Remember, this is all about balancing the scales. The old phrase, "you get more with the carrot than the stick." appropriately states how life can be when you bring more positive energy into your awareness.
Once you complete the list, place it somewhere that you will see it often. Allow yourself to use it to help you move forward in the direction of your goals and daily tasks. Let yourself feel the love and respect you have for yourself in those moments when it is challenged and uncertain. You deserve all the best in life!
